Webster’s dictionary defines wedding as: The fusing of two metals with a hot torch.
Sometimes I’ll start a sentence and I don’t even know where it’s going. I just hope I find it along the way. This is so true, so this time I’ll start with the details. Tyler and Katie said “I do” on the first Saturday in December at The Barn at Broadslab in Benson, North Carolina. This was the best wedding to end 2019 on. Y’all this wedding was crazy fun. When we first met Katie and Tyler [you can read that blog here] we knew they were one of our model couples, we hoped they would be one of our bride and grooms, we didn’t know they would be our friends. So as their wedding approached we became super excited and slightly nervous. I mean they look like something straight out of the Hollywood Hills and they are the type of people that you’d be hard pressed to find someone who doesn’t love them. So as you can imagine we were counting down along with them to their big day.
They say that your wedding day goes by in such a flash that you’re lucky if you even get a piece of your own cake. I say that’s crazy. I say let them eat cake. Margaret Thatcher said that about marriage.
When we arrived Katie was finishing makeup with Krista. She was more than ready to walk down the aisle. When I walked into the room Tyler was wiping his eyes as he did for most of the day. Sometimes life gives us too much of an emotion to control; on this day life gave Tyler so much happiness it welled up inside him and leaked out of his eyes. It’s nice to know it meant so much to him. He’s the only sober groom that has ever hugged me LOL.
The groomsmen, Tyler, and I walked out to the front of the Barn for their portraits. While we were there Katie and Tyler traded letters, before seeing each other at their ceremony. This was a special moment to be a part of. I can’t wait to see the clip the videographer Dart McAdoo captured from both moments; he was amazing to work alongside.
Well, it’s love at first sight. Actually, it was … no, it was when I heard her voice. It was love at first see with my ears.
Aneesa, with Harmony Weddings and Events made our job so easy, kept us on time, and made sure all the little details were in the right place. Among other things she helped place Katie before he first looks with her mom and bridesmaids. You have never heard a more enthusiastic excited yell from a group of bridesmaids when they opened their eyes to see their friend standing in front of them. Matt, Katie’s long time friend and hair stylist placed her veil in as the final touch before Katie would walk down the aisle.
Would I rather be feared or loved? Easy. Both. I want people to be afraid of how much they love me.
Ceremony time. The guests found their seats in the great hall of the barn as the instrumental music began to play. Tyler entered with all his groomsmen and the officiant Marshall Stewart. Each bridesmaid walked down unaccompanied before the bride entered. The barn doors slid open and Katie standing there alone like a princess holding her beautiful bouquet from Beyond Petals. As she entered her dad took her arm to walk her down the aisle to her groom. Tyler was waiting at the end of the aisle emotion overflowing. Before they exchanged rings, they gave each other their own written vowels which were perfect. Movie writers would struggle to write more beautiful vowels to be spoken on the big screen. Followed by the kiss and then their first announcement as Mr. and Mrs.
After family formals comes our favorite part of the wedding day. The husband and wife portraits. Katie and Tyler won the weather lottery for their wedding day. Which assisted in making some of the most beautiful portraits that we have ever taken. When you look at their photos you can feel the love radiate through them. Honestly you could feel it while we were there. I would love to say that they were naturals, but I’m not sure. With this being their third time in front of our cameras inside 3 months, it may have just been more they’ve mastered their training LOL!
I knew exactly what to do. But in a much more real sense, I had no idea what to do.
After their formals, Katie and Tyler were announced in by DJ Shannon with Elevation Entertainment. They shared a first dance with each other to Ronan Ash’s If I Ever Saw Heaven. Followed by dinner by the amazing Fords Fluent N Food. So let me just say this…MADE TO ORDER MACARONI BAR. I’ve never had jalapeno macaroni, but now that’s all I can think about.
Well, well, well how the turntables.
After beautiful, hilarious, and touching toasts from Eric, Lee, Madison, and Chelsea. Tyler and Katie didn’t know that they each had surprises for each other. Tyler went first. Reading a letter from one of Katie’s closest friends that couldn’t be there, Russell. It was truly one of the most touching moments of the evening, this could be seen as Katie too dabbed her eyes. Katie then was able to turn the tables on Tyler with his surprise with a short video of her making his ring by hand. She had teamed up with Dart just a few weeks beforehand to record the experience of her make his wedding band out of metal, which in turn made it all that much more special.
It’s never too early for ice cream.
Before opening the dance floor Tyler and Katie had a few more wedding festivities to complete. Sweets & Stems provided the cake pops for the guest and the cake for the bride and groom to cut. Followed by the bouquet and guarder toss, an anniversary dance, and the shoe game. Where we found out that these newly weds know each other rather well!
I am Beyoncé, always.
The rest of the evening was filled with line dancing, hugging, laughing, and taking just a few photos from Raleigh Photo Booth Pros, that I’ll mention Katie and Tyler own! Before leaving for the night Katie and Tyler had a gorgeous sparkler exit, and shared one last kiss of the evening.
I love inside jokes. I hope to be a part of one someday.
Tyler and Katie love The Office. So much they had their very own Dundie Award on their sweetheart table. As a special gift to them I have included some of Michael Scotts most famous quotes throughout the blog. I can’t take credit for these perfect gems. Kala and I couldn’t be happier for these two. Their wedding was amazing, but we know more importantly their marriage will be amazing. We are so excited to share some of their wedding photos!
