Where do you see yourself in 50 years?
Everyone always asks questions of this nature, but you never really know what to answer with, right?
After meeting Joe & Carolyn Icard, I aspire to love and prosper in our marriage just as they have for the past 50 years. YES, FIFTY YEARS! Isn’t that the most amazing thing you’ve ever heard!?! I know, some of y’all are probably thinking “Oh lord, have mercy… That’s a looong time” And Joe did share with us that it wasn’t always sunshine. He said, “I never once wanted to leave Carolyn. I thought about killing her a few times, but never leaving her.” Mrs. Carolyn did reservedly say that the feeling was mutual. Bless her heart! Reg & I have only been married 2 years, but boy I can relate! But in all honestly, at the end of the day we love each other more than anything else.
This was our very first time ever shooting an Anniversary Celebration and let me tell y’all, this family knew how to party! Tearing up the dance floor to line dances and Hannah Montana hits! Joe & Carolyn’s lovely daughters, Carmen & Brandi, planned this entire celebration and with the help of Charity Gray owner of The Perfect Day, this party was gorgeous!
One of my favorite things about this event is how they were able to bring back so many of the original pieces of their wedding day. Carolyn’s original dress, their wedding album, one of their invitations, there were even photos as centerpieces on each table of their wedding 50 years ago!
At the end of the night, Joe and Carolyn were so happy. Happy to see new friends, friends from high school, and church family. They were happy to have individuals from the original wedding present at their 50th anniversary. They were happy to celebrate this milestone with their 2 daughters, their son in laws, and with their seven grandchildren (who are refered to as the Teaguelets and the Ravenets). They were happy to celebrate 50 years of marriage with each other.
